On the whole a good educational frieze but having ‘Fox’ as the picture to illustrate ‘x’ is very confusing -swapping from an initial sound to a final sound. Very silly! ‘X-ray’ would have been less confusing in the long run even though an unfamiliar word at the outset. An introduction to blends is a good idea but having pictures of a whale as well as a fish also confusing for very young children - if you ask them to show you where the fish is. Young children will start by identifying the pictures so a little more thought needed there.

We don't use X-ray because it makes an /e/ + /k/ + /s/ sound.
We prefer to teach children that x makes a /k/ + /s/ sound.
